If your glen patrick water coolers doesn't have a built-in shutoff valve, you'll need to install one downstream from the filter. Use a "full-flow" valve and if you have copper pipe, use a brass nipple between the valve and the filter. If any electrical wires are grounded to your pipes (look for wires clamped to the cold water line, or around the water meter), you must place a "jumper" wire around the filter unit to maintain electrical continuity. Use two pipe clamps ($2) and No. 6 wire for up to 160-amp service, and a No. 4 wire for up to 220-amp service. Or size the wire to match existing jumper wires, such as around the water meter.
