In the early days of the company, Herschede made many intricately designed clocks which made him synonymous with detailed work. Most of his earlier works cater to a particular style that was ornate and paid lot of attention to detail. The Herschede grandfather clocks from this period were so beautiful that they surpassed many other internationally recognized brands in their aesthetic quality. The Barwick grandfather clocks, which were internationally acclaimed, were also put to test owing to stiff competition from the Herschede Company. Herschede ushered in a new style of clock-making which provided a three-dimensional effect which had not been seen up till now.
