I was driving by a local bus stop the other day and I noticed a nice looking lady carrying one of those designer handbags. I couldn’t help but notice that most of the other people around her looked very much like they were from a much lower class of income. She stood out like a sore thumb and made the rest of the folks who were waiting on the bus appear shall we say, “quite rugged.” Then I realized that she didn’t really have anything more, in the way of clothes fashion, than did anyone else. But that damned designer purse, fake or not, made her stand out and look like she was somebody with money and esteem. I never realized that one simple article could achieve so much stature. It’s truly amazing.
