Paid $700 for dishwasher and installation.
Dent is on the front panel.
Sears is offering to either replace or a discount in lieu.

Depends how obvious the dent is. I would say that the average discount on a dent would be about 20% of the price you paid. And are they going to credit your credit card or just give you store credit on your next purchase? How much does this dent bother you? Can you live with it or do you have the time for them to remove that one and replace it with a new one? Things for you to think about. Good luck!

Sadly, you can ask as much as you want, but most companies have a typical percentage that they will give. When I used to work retail at a local furniture store, their discount was 10%. If you can get a better deal, go for it! However, if they offer you something less, it is probably because that is an industry standard.

first, do you want a damaged dishwasher? if not, have them replace it. if you can live with the dent, how much is it worth for you to keep a damaged one? if they haven’t offered you a number, ask them what they consider is fair. when they give you a number say that you were thinking more.
before doing this, find out what they charge for installation. divide this number in half, and that’s probably what they will be paying the installer to swap out the damaged dishwasher. if they won’t give you at least that number, have them put in a new one.
remember, this is a negotiation. you high ball them, and they low ball you and you meet somewhere in the middle. but….you bought a new, non-dented dishwasher, you are the one in control of the negotiation.
